Yet again Mayor Jakeway and his CHOICE slate of candidates speak in generalities and half truths about an issue like Rivercorp. Let's clear up a few things. First, the Rivercorp budget is not $700,000 as Mr. Bray states (I think $650,000 is closer). Second, about half the budget (approximately $300,000) is related to economic development. The rest (approximately $350,000) funds Tourism, the Visitor Center, In-film, Creative Industries and a few other things; none of which go away so there is nothing much to be saved there. Fourth, the remaining economic development money is basically made up of salaries and operating expenses. If you want "new economic development" someone is still going to have to do it so you will still need staff. So I ask you, where are these huge savings that you are talking about. Explain yourselves and show me the money!
PS: I don't have a problem with you wanting to review Rivercorp and its' effectiveness. That is totally legitimate. What I take exception to is the continuing implication that you are going to save huge amounts of money by getting rid of Rivercorp.
