In September 2013, a package was sent to Municipal Council from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. This package requested that Council adopt our resolution or create a resolution of their own opposing the elimination of door to door delivery. Additionally CUPW provided information regarding Postal Banking which is an alternative to cuts in service by Canada Post. The current council chose to receive and file this information without any debate. This is a very important issue to our community and as some may be aware we have been designated as one of the first locations in British Columbia to convert. This affects seniors, low income people, it affects property values, puts added strain on communities to find locations for Community Mail Boxes (CMBs) dealing with excess litter, theft. Councils will have to provide lighting, sidewalks etc. Please respond with your intent to support or not support our efforts in opposing these drastic cuts to services.
